Synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of Japan's tumultuous Bakumatsu period, this series follows Takasugi Shinsaku and his companion Katsura Kogorou as they embark on a clandestine mission. Driven by apprehension regarding a powerful artifact – a supposed "timepiece" – they infiltrate a government vessel, aiming to prevent its potential misuse. Their objective shifts dramatically when the device is stolen, leading them on a pursuit that culminates in the unexpected discovery of a transformed Kyoto ruled by the deity Susanoo.
The duo finds themselves navigating a drastically altered reality, where familiar landscapes and societal structures have been replaced by something unsettlingly new. Remaining steadfast in their original purpose, Takasugi and Katsura must now confront formidable forces vying for control of time itself, seeking to restore their nation's destiny amidst a world irrevocably changed. The narrative explores themes of historical preservation, political agency, and the consequences of tampering with fate.
