Synopsis:

This animated series adapts the world of *Chain Chronicle*, presenting a fragmented narrative through eight distinct episodes. The story unfolds in a mysterious, interconnected realm where individuals grapple with forgotten histories and unusual abilities. We follow a diverse cast of characters as they navigate cryptic landscapes and unravel the secrets binding their fates together. The animation emphasizes atmospheric environments and character-driven interactions, exploring themes of memory, identity, and the consequences of past actions. The episodic structure allows for a gradual immersion into the world’s complexities, offering a contemplative experience focused on piecing together a larger, enigmatic puzzle rather than high-octane action or straightforward plot progression.

There is nothing much to say about this short, and seemingly, quickly-put-together anime. This series of short OVAs, is based off of a mobile game called Chain Chronicle. The game itself, is actually enjoyable, but that is not what this review is about. This review is strictly based off the anime itself. To put it simple, there is really nothing to praise this anime about aside from being an adaption of a mobile game. The Story is simply not there, the art is ok, the sounds are ok the characters are unique in appearance and voice, the enjoymentis partially there IF and only if you have played the game. For those who have not played the game, this show makes little to no sense because important characters, and major side characters are just tossed out into the scene and it is just too confusing.nnnI believe there is suppose to be another series, a more complete series, that covers this and the game much better. Either way, if you have played the game, then I would say watch this to see if you can spot your favorite character. If you haven't, then I would pass on it because it wouldn't make sense, and there is no translation for the show either, just Japanese and Chinese subs.

it seems like lately animation studios enjoy making pointless anime for no apparent reason. watching this show i often wondered what the hell were they thinking when they decided to make it, i mean, were they on drugs? did they have too much free time? who would be so self loathing to work hours and hours on something so bad? the episodes don't feel like episodes, they are more like recaps of something that happened somewhere else. where? i don't know. the story is absolutely absent. logic? what is that? it doesn't exist in this anime. the episodes don't have anything to do with each other, each one of them focuses on a different character without introducing it, so you don't know who are they and what the hell is happening. the story is not narrated cronologically, and it doesn't have a conclusion. the world is built on nothing, you don't have a context, you don't know what's happened before the story started and you don't know what's the main plot. it's wasted time basically.nnthe characters love to say that they're gonna save the world every two seconds. i'm serious, half the lines of the show are about that. if you take this show as a parody of the fantasy genre it actually does its job, but i don't really think that was the original plan. apparently there's gonna be a full anime season about this next year, maybe i'll torture myself and i'll watch that too! jknnthe opening song is fine, even tho the lyrics are ridiculous. the animations are fine too, they're good for a 5 min anime, the character design was pretty cute and some of the characters seemed interesting. but that doesn't mean you should watch this. please. don't watch this.nnbut if you want to watch an anime constantly wondering wtf is happening and at the end be left with a sense of nothing, then please, watch this.
