The established order of the underworld is thrown into disarray when the Devil King announces his impending retirement and a succession competition. A diverse group of aspiring heirs are dispatched to the human world, but Osamu, the Devil King's descendant, finds himself detached from the high-stakes contest. Content with his mundane routine at a convenience store, he resists the call to power. However, duty compels him to seek out "Child," beings born from human souls, and gather them as familiars. The series explores themes of obligation versus personal desires within a fantastical setting. Osamu's reluctant journey offers a perspective on leadership and responsibility, contrasting his laid-back approach with the ambitious pursuits of his fellow Cadets, all while navigating the unusual world of demonic hierarchy and human souls.
