Synopsis:

The narrative unfolds during a casual gathering in Ikebukuro, centered around a hot pot party hosted by Shinra Kishitani. Mikado Ryuugamine unexpectedly finds himself amidst a familiar assembly of individuals he knows, including the enigmatic Celty. The atmosphere is relaxed yet carries an underlying current of shared history as attendees begin recounting pivotal moments from their pasts. These reminiscences weave together disparate connections – childhood escapades with Masaomi Kida, the origins of friendships between Anri Sonohara and Mika Harima, and even the initial encounter between Shizuo Heiwajima and Tom Tanaka. The anime explores how seemingly random encounters can connect people and the subtle weight of shared experiences, offering a glimpse into the personal histories that shape the characters' present lives within a bustling urban environment.

Durarara!!x2 Shou: Watashi no Kokoro wa Nabe Moyou is a wonderful addition to a great series. To be perfectly honest this special is not needed. You can watch the main series and not miss anything major-HOWEVER just because it is not needed to progress the story does not necessarily mean its not enjoyable. In fact I'd have to say I really enjoyed this special. What stands out first and foremost in Durarara is the characters-and this special perfectly highlights the characters that make Durarara so great. You spend the majority of the episode learning more about the backstory of several of the characters as they sitaround a hotpot.nnIf you are a fan I say this special is a must watch.

I loved when the hot pot was mentioned in the anime, and I loved watching the whole evening. I actually would have liked for the episode to be longer, but I'll take what I can get. I enjoyed the characters chatting about their past, about how they met and what made them stick together. It was a successful hot pot party. And it also helped me decide just which characters I like the most. During the first season it was really hard to pick favourites, but I think I can confidently say that one of my favourites is Kida. That might change while I watchthe next season, though, who knows what's happening next. nnYou can definitely skip the episode, won't miss anything important regarding the series, but it's still a fun watch.
