Synopsis:

In the world of Felicidad Underworld, a unique bond exists between humans known as Farmagia and the creatures they cultivate from magical seeds. The series follows Ten, a spirited Farmagia living a peaceful life with his companions Chica, Arche, Leii, and a fairy companion named Lookie-Loo on the continent of Avrion. Their idyllic existence is disrupted by the sudden death of the Magus, the governing leader of Felicidad.

A power struggle ensues, culminating in Glaza's ascension to the Magus position and his controversial vision for the future: prioritizing power above all else. Glaza’s ambition manifests as an invasion of Avrion, aiming to isolate it from the rest of the world. Ten and his friends must rally their allies and harness the unique abilities of their creatures to defend their home and challenge Glaza's authoritarian rule, forcing them into a fight for survival and the future of Felicidad.

MASHIMA FANS, STAND UP! After the OG that is Rave Master, the wonderful adventurous story of Eden's Zero, and of course, the popular and 'critically acclaimed' Fairy Tail, we've got another Mashima involved work to enjoy. Although he wasn't in charge of the story, and only drew up the character designs, you will still feel that sense of 'Mashima wonder' breathed to life through the anime (I know I'm glazing, let me do as I please). Now, as for the anime itself, I'm going to keep it a stack...it could have been better for sure. In all honesty, you can easily tell that it's only apromo for the game, and not some intensely made project.n-the story really isn't all that greatn-the fights are mostly one-dimensionaln-the animation is decent at bestnnSo why am I recommending this anime to you, regardless? Simple. Because it's a fun anime to watch, especially if you are a fan of Mashima's other works like I am. In fact, the sole reason I watched this show in the first place is because I heard he was involved, even if it was only for the character designs. But that doesn't take away the fact that I genuinely believe people can still enjoy this anime, and what it presents. n-the characters themselves are fun, and although they share many similarities to Mashima's characters, I don't see that as a bad thing at alln-the comedic timings are great, especially since the studio that made this anime has worked on Fairy Tail in the past (Fairy Tail humor is hilarious, that's just common sense)nPS: for those that have problems with Mashima's overuse of fan service, this anime avoids it, so you'll be fine. nnSo don't knock it down because of the harsh score, and just give it a watch!

'Farmagia' is an anime that has a reputation for being bad. I originally wanted to watch it 1) to get some taste for what's bad to feel the contrast between what I consider good to great, and 2) to lower my MAL average score. The truth is, it has some things that make me cringe and some aspects that make it decent or good. § Overview After the death of the world of Felicidad's ruler, one of the Oración Seis, Glaza immediately sets himself up as the ruler. Glaza's minions immediately attack the Avrion continent where the protagonist Ten and his friends live. In response, Ten and hisfriends must fight Glaza and other members of the Oración Seis to regain their freedom.nnn§ Notesnnn1. This is Fairy Tail meets Pokemon/Digimon. The characters were designed by Mashima Hiro, the mangaka of Fairy Tail. Although Mashima did not write Farmagia, there are clear parallels. Ten corresponds to Natsu; Leii corresponds to Gray; and Arche corresponds to Lucy (perhaps). Both main characters have pets; Lookie-Loo corresponds to Happy. (I don't know the analogues for Chica and Emero.)nnn2. With the usual disclaimer, if you don't like Mashima's works, you will not like this anime. The same goes if you like his works.nnn3. If I were a person who usually drops anime, I would have dropped this before reaching halfway. I was facepalming at how dumb the characters were. It was not encouraging. nnI suggest that you keep at it. It gets better.nnIn fact, the character designs don't seem to pop initially. But by the end of the anime, you will know which is which because of how invested you become in their respective story arcs. nnn4. I love that we get the respective story arcs of each protagonist, and this makes them so memorable. This is in sharp contrast to so many anime that have an ensemble but fail to characterise and give justice to each cast of characters. (I'm looking at you, 'Promise of Wizard' and 'Cheer for You.)nnn5. The opening song for Farmagia is decent. Some dislike it, but come on. It's from Asian Kung-Fu Generation, the band that sang one of the bangers of the original Fullmetal Alchemist.nnThe ED by miss-dystopia is okay but has the energy to become a banger. nnn6. The animation is decent enough compared to the usual, but it probably pales in comparison to top-tier battle shounen. (By the way, the source material is a game so we don't have the usual demographic categories as shounen, shoujo, seinen, and josei. But with the way the content is too similar to Fairy Tail, it's safe to use the term shounen.)nnn7. The pacing is mostly decent. At first, the events are happening so fast that it seems it's not good pacing. But after watching, you realise that the 12-episode format has helped this anime. Even if you feel that the anime is bad or cringe, as I often experienced, because the cringe aspects are similar to Fairy Tail, you can't…
