Synopsis:
A world long accustomed to conflict finds an unexpected shift as figures from ancient legends begin to manifest. These individuals, imbued with extraordinary abilities and burdened by forgotten histories, are drawn into a present grappling with the echoes of past struggles. The narrative follows a young scholar who attempts to understand the origins of these returning heroes and their purpose in a world struggling to reconcile myth and reality.
The series explores themes of legacy, societal expectation, and the complex relationship between history and the present. Set against a backdrop of both familiar landscapes and subtly altered environments reflecting the influence of these legendary figures, the story unfolds with deliberate pacing, prioritizing character development and intricate world-building over high-octane action. It offers a thoughtful examination of how the past shapes the future, and the challenges of integrating long-held beliefs into a changing world.

Well... it was an interesting experience? As someone who actually plays Heroes of the Storm regularly and knows fair share of Blizzard's multiverse lore I wish heroes would at least resemble their counterparts from games. I just couldn't stand seeing Valla, or so called Lenneth here, being the way she was, I wouldn't call being flustered all the time suitable for someone who is known for ferocity and hatred after loosing her home village. I do understand that creators had freedom with what they wanted to show, especially since series wasn't approved by Blizzard, however dampening characters with so much lore is kinda illogical to me, whywould you want to change something that's already liked by many? While so far I've been focusing mostly on Valla, the one that struck me the most was Nova, here called Natasha, probably because they based her character solely on what's been shown in trailer that's also remade to be first episode of the series, which makes her seem so dull, lacking any characteristic other than being seductive.nnWhen it comes to the plot, it doesn't look much better, concept of underdog having some kind of special power was used so many times it's not appealing at all anymore. nnWhat I do appreciate is however overall quality of animation, while many might not like the style I do appreciate the effort, that's been put to animate it all, excluding face animations which compared to the rest are lacking.nnTo sum it up, Feng Wei Ying Xiong is nothing special, it's interesting to see how other cultures see Blizzard's games but that's about it? nWould I watch it again? Probably not. nWould I recommend watching it? Well, not really. If you are really into Blizzard stuff and have too much time, go ahead watch it, be warned though, you might not like, what you'll see. -

It's actually pretty well done, but it doesn't know if it's trying to be an homage to Heroes of the Storm, or be its own thing. You can't do both. Fans of HotS can enjoy the first half geeking over the familiar characters and setting being brought to life. The characterization is great for Stitches, Gazlowe, Nova, and acceptable for Valla. We get to see them battle in a couple arenas, with Dragon Shire really being brought to life. The fights are decent, and we get to see some moves used by the game characters. It is an unofficial work, and it's easy to enjoy itfor what it is. The underdog story is pretty cool as long as they keep it close to the original game.nnBut then, the writers decided they wanted to do their own thing. The second half takes place outside of the setting of the game, and basically is a bunch of drama and talking and no gameplay and minimal fighting between characters. This kind of shift could work for a standalone project, but absolutely fails for an homage project. We still see game characters, but they are no longer characterized like they are in game, and basically become bland exposition dumps.nnAnimation is good, full CGI. Music seems to rip from other sources, but is combined well. Pacing is poor, with everything feeling very slow. There are a lot of CGI sequences which feel like they drag on way too long, and excessive amounts of flashbacks, which makes it hard to watch even at 1.5 times speed.nnI'm putting Mixed Feelings because I think fans of HotS should watch the first half of the series, but then skip the rest. -

I don't care that this anime looks like (kinda) the game, because the story itself is much deeper and more interesting. The fighting part yes - more like a game, but characters and the story are more fun. The main character minion has his own mystery and we will never know now what exactly he could do, because the season 2 stopped after first episode. I had fun with season 1 a lot. I never watched anime like this one. From 1 side it was funny and entertaining, from another side it was bloody and for adults only. The picture quality is great and I amsurprised and sad that 1 more interesting story stopped and I can only guess what could happen next...
