Synopsis:

In a world sustained by elemental guardians, a lineage of protectors known as Shalen safeguards humanity from otherworldly threats. For generations, these individuals have wielded the power of fire, metal, water, wood, and earth to contain monstrous incursions. However, the emergence of wind-based abilities marked a turning point, leading to a fragile peace.

The narrative follows Lang Ming, a young man born with a unique sensitivity to sound, living a simple life in a remote village. When his home is ravaged by a demonic presence and his mother vanishes, he embarks on a transformative journey. Driven by a desperate need for answers, Lang makes a pact with an enigmatic companion – a being referred to only as Little Goblin. This encounter sets him upon a path of self-discovery, forcing him to confront the responsibilities inherent in his destiny as a Shalen and grapple with the complexities of a world on the brink of change. The series explores themes of loss, purpose, and the unforeseen consequences of power.

Absolutely loved it. Outstanding movie from the Xia Lan universe (part of the old but much loved (at least by me) “Hua Jianghu: Painting the Rivers and Lakes” series). It’s full of heart, with gorgeous animation and a new plucky MC, a blind orphan boy with impressive hearing, supported by the original Xia Lan characters who had another glowup for this movie. You’ll have no trouble following the plot whether you’re familiar with the series and its characters or not. If you like the martial arts / cultivation genre, fantasy, magic worlds of ancient traditions and mythical beasts, I totally recommend it. If you don’t likethese genres but are still always up for a good story, I also recommend it.🍿 🎥🏞️✨
