Synopsis:

Two centuries after a previous temporal anomaly, high school student Kasuga Nozomi’s life is irrevocably altered when she meets a mysterious boy. He transports her to Kyou, a world mirroring Kyoto during the late Heian period, embroiled in a devastating conflict between the Minamoto and Taira clans. The Taira, seeking to overthrow the Genji, employ dark magic to unleash vengeful spirits upon the land, disrupting its natural order. Nozomi learns the boy is Hakuryuu, the guardian of Kyou, whose power wanes with each spirit unleashed. Tasked with aiding his restoration, Nozomi becomes the Hakuryuu no Miko and finds herself entangled in a historical war, navigating political intrigue alongside the supernatural as she seeks a path back to her own time while facing the consequences of a world’s spiritual imbalance. The narrative explores themes of fate, duty, and the delicate balance between worlds.

Reviews:

  • User indi135 (Score: 6/10):
The show had a lot of potential, but was painfully incomplete. The viewer enters the story partway through, with the characters already having been transported into a new world and having been there for some time. All of the stones have been assigned to guardians, though we don’t know how or when. There is a lot of back story that can only be guessed at without having read the manga or played the games. The characters are quite interesting and there is a complex dynamic between friend and foe. There are no clearly defined right or wrong sides. Unfortunatelythere is a gap in the plot between the ending of this show and the continuation in the sequel, and the sequel only goes half way through the war. What is present is worthy enough, but without a beginning or an ending to the story, watching it felt pretty pointless.
