Synopsis:
In feudal Japan, Jubei Kibagami, a skilled swordsman weary of political conflict, ekes out a living as a mercenary. His solitary existence is disrupted when he rescues Kagero, a ninja haunted by the loss of her clan and tasked with investigating a devastating village plague. Drawn into this mystery against his will, Jubei finds himself entangled in a web of conspiracy surrounding the Devils of Kimon, a group of ninjas wielding extraordinary abilities.
A poisoned promise from a government spy forces Jubei to confront dangerous truths – uncovering a plot for governmental upheaval and a connection to someone from his past. The narrative explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences of unchecked power within a society teetering on the brink of upheaval. The series offers a grounded exploration of duty and revenge amidst political maneuvering and supernatural threats.
