Synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of late Edo period Japan, this series follows Shinjuro Tateoka, who unexpectedly inherits leadership of his family’s dojo following his father's departure on a shogunate assignment. The dojo's enrollment shifts with the arrival of several young women, altering the established dynamic of the martial arts school. A period of relative calm is disrupted when the shogunate requests dojos to assist in city patrols amidst a series of unusual thefts.
Shinjuro finds himself navigating the complexities of his newfound responsibilities while managing the evolving atmosphere of the dojo and its new students. The narrative explores themes of duty versus personal desires, set within a world where traditional martial arts practices intersect with political intrigue and burgeoning challenges to the established order. The story offers a contemplative look at leadership, growth, and the shifting roles within a close-knit community facing unforeseen circumstances.
