Synopsis:
In the tranquil Mamio Valley, seventeen-year-old Tokiko Mima, known as "Key," discovers a life-altering inheritance from her late grandfather, a renowned robotics engineer. He tasks her with an improbable goal: forging thirty thousand friendships to achieve true humanity. This compels Key to relocate to the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, where she reconnects with Sakura Kuriyagawa and becomes captivated by the world of idol music, particularly the enigmatic singer Miho Utsuse.
As Key navigates the challenges of building connections, she uncovers a hidden history linking Miho to Jinsaku Ajou, a figure connected to her grandfather's past research and driven by ambitions in robotic weaponry. Key’s journey to become human becomes increasingly complex as she unknowingly draws the attention of those determined to exploit her unique origins. The series explores themes of identity, connection, and the ethical implications of advanced technology within a vibrant, contemporary setting.
