    Synopsis:

    Following a devastating loss and a sudden relocation to the countryside, the young Mahito Maki finds himself grappling with grief and displacement at his late mother's ancestral home. His adjustment is complicated by the persistent presence of a peculiar, talking heron that seems fixated on him. The arrival of his stepmother’s pregnancy introduces further unsettling developments. When his stepmother vanishes into a mysterious tower, Mahito’s desperate search leads him to a world where the boundaries between life and death are blurred.

    Navigating this unfamiliar realm, he confronts questions about mortality and the true meaning of existence as he strives to rescue his stepmother and uncover the secrets held within the tower's depths. The narrative explores themes of loss, family dynamics, and the struggle to reconcile with the past in a world where reality is fluid.
