This bleak routine is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of Kinoko Inu, a peculiar creature resembling a dog formed from a mushroom that emerges from Hotaru's garden.

Reluctantly, Hotaru invites Kinoko Inu into his home, initiating a series of unusual interactions. The creature’s methods for easing Hotaru's pain are unconventional and often disruptive, forcing him to confront his unresolved emotions. The series explores themes of bereavement, healing through unconventional connection, and the complexities of emotional dependence, set against a backdrop of quiet domesticity interwoven with fantastical elements.
