one night back in 2000 I was flicking through the Sci-Fi Channel UK with my boy Geeae and happened to stumble across this weird action anime where this crazy mad man attempted to rape some rude lady, this scene was drawn in this comical / horror style and then the attacker burst into tears after the incident and screamed “why do I do these things? In the most hilariously bad English dub I had ever heard. Well since I’m a weird person myself I was compelled to finish watching this and was quite amused by this lil show overall. Alas, that was a longtime ago and I could never remember the name of the series for the life of me.....until a few months agonnDark Warrior....kinda generic isn't it...nnAnimation nnFrom memory i thought the animation was average but after I found a subbed version online more recently I was surprised how old the animation actually was. It is under average animation although there are some funny quarks to it.nnSound nnFunny enough when I saw it on TV it had an English dub but since then I can only find a subbed version of this 2 part movie. Well the voice acting was actually quite funny, lots of korny dialogue as well as korny background music. I really could not take it very seriously.nnStorynnThe story goes (as much as I can remember) a guy finds out he is actually a cyborg and is being hunted by the mad scientist/company who made him. The main character meets helpers along the way and they all start a journey to take down the “Evil Bad Guys”. nnWell like I said before its all kind of korny but it has a Violence Jack feel to it so the action scenes are somewot entertaining…..or at worst amusing.nnCharacternnCharacters are erratic and predictable archetypes. This show is too short to build upon them so nothing else needs to be saidnnEnjoymentnnWell if you stumble across this on TV or an online stream it for an amusing watch. I found most of it just comical and dumb. Don’t expect too much from this onennValuennwell, you can only find the dub version in video format and the story does not end so the bottom line is I would not recommend this unless its somehow already playing on TV or something. In that respect it may give you some entertainment value for kornynessnnI doubt this will ever get a DVD releasenn4/10

This show's greatest sin? When you boil it down to its very basics, the story premise has some promise. (I won't go into details because, y'know, spoilers) It's not the most original idea in the world. But that's okay, it's not like there are that many 'original' stories out there these days. But they took that story premise, and pretty much crapped it all up in just about every way imaginable. Oh, Dark Warrior is so bad on so many levels. If done right, the plight of the main character as his reality spins outof control could have been terrifying; but instead it's just one awkward step after another. And then he turns into Hokuto no Ken. And it just gets weirder from there. n nThe quality of the artwork is, well, in a word, bad. The animation is equally unimpressive. The head-squishing violence is kinda over the top at times. By the time they get to the second episode, the whole story loses focus completely and they end up throwing the pre-requisite-of-the-era ESP, and it's becomes a boring mess. And if you watch this in the dubbed version, that just adds an extra layer of bad-ness to the whole experience. Just...don't bother.
