Synopsis:

Set in a quiet, secluded town, this short animated work explores themes of memory, loss, and the subtle connections between people. The narrative centers around an elderly pharmacist who interacts with various townsfolk, each carrying their own unspoken burdens. Through these encounters, glimpses into their pasts are revealed, often intertwined with the history of the community itself.

The animation employs a gentle, understated style that emphasizes atmosphere over dynamic action. It's a contemplative piece, prioritizing emotional resonance and quiet observation. The story unfolds deliberately, inviting viewers to piece together fragments of lives and consider the weight of shared experiences within a close-knit environment. It’s less about plot progression and more about the lingering impact of the past on the present.

Reviews:

  • User Khashishi (Score: 7/10):
For a chibi short, this is a bit different than some others that I've seen in that it follows the story of the main series quite closely. (Don't watch this without watching the main series.) You can watch it in parallel or watch after the main series as a recap. You could probably classify this as an educational series, as mostly it adds a bit of explanatory context to the plot, such as some properties of herbs or poisons, and some symbolism. If you have watched Kimetsu no Yaiba, this series is very similar to the Taisho secrets segment at the end of some episodes, thoughthe info here is more relevant to real life.
