Synopsis:

In a series of unsettling events, a masked swordsman systematically eliminates members of the Genjibotaru, a clandestine group known for pilfering Buddhist artifacts across Japan. The police struggle to understand the killer’s motives and link them to the scattered locations of each victim. When a cryptic puzzle surfaces from Kyoto, a renowned detective is enlisted to assist in recovering a stolen statue, drawing the attention of young detectives Conan Edogawa and Heiji Hattori.

Their investigation intertwines as they navigate the city's hidden corners, piecing together clues that reveal a deeper connection between the victims and the killer's actions. As the body count rises, and threats escalate against Hattori, the stakes become increasingly personal. Conan and Heiji must collaborate to uncover the truth behind the murders and prevent further bloodshed, all while racing against time to rescue a cherished individual. The narrative explores themes of historical intrigue, hidden identities, and the complexities of justice in modern Japan.

I give this movie a 7/10. It was good and had a good plot. However, I thought of this movie as more of a 2 hour special episode. Nothing in this movie seems as though it is a movie. For a Detective Conan movie there is a case that has to be solved and then something more drastic happens. For example, Movie 01, Conan solves the mystery of the culprit who planted bombs around their area, then it turns out he plants a bomb in a skyscraper where Ran is located and Conan must now go save her. This movie does not have that, beingfilled with investigation for almost the whole movie and capturing the culprit.

I'm a fan of Detective Conan and I have to say honestly Detective Conan is a love story rather than detective novel. But Crossroad in the Ancient Capital tells something more than love.Among all the Detective Conan movies, this piece should be one of the best. This time the case happened in Kyoto--former capital of Japan before Tokyo,so this movie is full of Japanese culture:Kendo(剣道),Kabugi(歌舞伎).Also there are Japanese history and places of interest of Tokyo. In a word his movie opens a window to Japanese culture. If you are curious about or interested in the country of Japan, you must not miss it! Besides culture stuffs, thetheme song by Mai Kuraki is another highlight.

Detective Conan Movies Rewatch Before Watching Movie 26: Movie 7 Movie 7 finally saw the return of Heiji and Kazuha, and they were among the main supporting characters this time. The movie served as a basic introduction to Kyoto and relationship development for our two pairings (despite the movies not being canon), and I thought the movie did a good job interweaving both with the case itself. The case presented a very interesting and difficult code that is culturally relevant to the city of Kyoto, though I do not know how culturally accurate the movie is overall. Mixed with some traditional Japanese music, the movie tries toimmerse the audience into Kyoto, and again, I thought it did a good job at it.nnThe only issue with the movie is that the action sequences were lacking compared to previous movies, and the movie took a bit too long to set up the case, so this movie is definitely slower compared to the previous movies. However, this was an enjoyable entry with a solid case that should make it a fun time for DC fans. 8/10
