Natsume Yuujinchou

The series follows Takashi Natsume, a young man burdened by the ability to perceive the spirit world and the resulting isolation it has fostered throughout his life. His solitary existence is disrupted when he inadvertently releases Madara, a powerful youkai bound to a lucky cat form. Madara recognizes a connection between Natsume and his deceased grandmother, Reiko Natsume, a figure renowned for her efforts in containing troublesome spirits through a mystical book.

Natsume reluctantly becomes the guardian of this Book of Friends, agreeing to eventually relinquish it to Madara while seeking protection from malevolent entities. As he navigates his newfound responsibility, Natsume finds himself drawn into the conflicts of the youkai world. This journey forces him to confront his past and gradually build relationships with both supernatural beings and the humans he has long avoided, exploring themes of connection, legacy, and the burden of inherited responsibility.
