Synopsis:

In a world steeped in ancient beliefs, a Buddhist monk named Genjou Sanzou undertakes a vital quest for lost scriptures commissioned by the Emperor. His journey takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Son Goku, a spirited Monkey Deity recently freed from a five-century confinement. Guided by a divine mandate, Sanzou must navigate a landscape populated by both wondrous beings and perilous threats.

Joining their unlikely fellowship are Cho Hakkai, a jovial spirit with a fondness for sake; Sagojyou, a stoic general from the heavenly armies; and Ryuuba, a proud Dragon Crown Prince.
