Synopsis:

Shinjiro Suzuki, a young man entangled in a chaotic incident involving his friends and a military camp, finds himself thrust into extraordinary circumstances. While fleeing pursuit, he encounters an impossible sight: a colossal battleship navigating the skies. Rescued by Lyx, a princess from another world, Suzuki learns of her lineage – her father is Shinjiro Sakomizu. Lyx implores him for aid, hinting at political complexities and a world far removed from our own.

The series explores themes of identity, destiny, and the consequences of interdimensional connections. Set against a backdrop of advanced technology and unfamiliar landscapes, it follows Suzuki's journey as he grapples with a request that could reshape not only Lyx’s world but potentially his own. The narrative emphasizes character relationships amidst a rapidly unfolding, otherworldly conflict.

Wings of Rean is a 6 episode series , subtitled in english. It's very wordy the 1st 4 episodes so you have trouble watching the anime itself. The plot is explained briefly and it's hard to have a sense of whats going on in the show. the saving grace is the fight scenes during the last 2 episodes of the series which are less wordy and have alot of action in them.

For the first 5.95 episodes I thought this anime was very good. Good art, music, plot and characters. A bit of action, adventure and throw in a bit of romance. Always a good mix. The mecha involved are especially inventive, who ever though to use giant bugs? not exactly gundam material but it will have to do. Anyway it always comes down to an ending, and this one did not have an ending I cared for. I am currently searching for the manga adaptation in a hopeful plea that the animes ending was wrong.

A great show if you go in with the right expectations, which is, that it's going to be a completely insane show very in your face about all of it's themes and ideas, but rushing to get through them all. The first half is a bit rough, but does a great job introducing you to the characters, and setting up the amazing madness that takes up the second half. All in all, it's pretty short, if you like Tomino's other works then check it out, though I understand that people more unfamiliar with his style might not enjoy it. Also the bug robots are pretty cool.
