In 2025, the sudden emergence of autonomous machines known as Kikou plunged the world into chaos and widespread destruction. Years later, the discovery of Kikou remains in Japan prompts the establishment of the Tokyo Kikou Institute (Toukigen), dedicated to understanding and countering these enigmatic entities. Driven by a desperate need for solutions, researchers develop the Muttsu, a new weapon conceived from Kikou technology, poised for its first field test. Rin Sagami and Yuzuru Midou are selected as pilots, burdened with the weight of humanity's survival. Their mission carries immense responsibility, yet they soon confront unforeseen challenges.
