Synopsis:
The narrative centers on Lieutenant Mizuki, a veteran soldier who underwent an experimental procedure to become a powerful asset in wartime. Following an injury that ended her combat career, she volunteered for the risky process, becoming the first of a line of “ultimate weapons.” Mizuki’s initial success is overshadowed by the arrival of Chise, a newer candidate deemed more promising for the role.
Initially dismissive of Chise's perceived weakness, Mizuki soon finds herself uniquely attuned to the younger woman, capable of hearing her thoughts – a consequence of their shared experimental modification. As the conflict intensifies and Chise’s abilities evolve, Mizuki grapples with evolving perspectives on the nature of these weapons, the cost of war, and her own identity within this unusual program. The story explores themes of companionship forged in extreme circumstances and the complexities of understanding another person's internal world.
