Synopsis:
Chako Ishibashi navigates the ordinary routines of middle school, subtly disrupted by her classmate, Shibainuko-san. Shibainuko-san’s appearance is undeniably unique; she bears a striking resemblance to the Shiba Inu breed. Despite this, she integrates seamlessly into school life, exhibiting both canine instincts and human decorum. Chako observes that most students accept Shibainuko-san without question, creating an atmosphere of quiet acceptance surrounding the unusual. The series explores themes of perception, normalcy, and the bonds formed through acceptance of difference. Alongside her friend Naho, Chako experiences everyday life with a classmate who challenges conventional ideas of what it means to be human, presenting a gentle and thoughtful exploration of identity within a familiar setting.

Judging a series by the length of the episodes can be quite difficult to refuse but looking past that, Shiba Inuko-san is a very entertaining series of VERY SHORT episodes that involve 3 characters. With plenty of funny moments in this series under the major constraint of having only roughly 90 seconds of actual content. Considering the fact that you are only spending at most 2 regular episode lengths watching this, you are getting the bang for your buck. If you want a few chuckles, Shiba Inuko-san is a good place to start. -

A quick and easy watch just for fun. Personally I would've preferred a whole series with an average run time, I think a lot could've been done with these characters. Without preference, it's a decent show and pretty cute, not much to complain about. A good distraction from what's happening in the real world but again, not that long of a distraction. The art style and animation is also done really well for having one minute episodes. I haven't seen too many shiba inus as sentient characters, and I did like shiba inuko-san as a character. Very cute and not much to her. -

Shiba Inuko-san delivers exactly what it promises: cute, innocuous shorts showing two high-school girls and a cute dog. There's no story to speak of in such shorts; your enjoyment of it will boil down to whether the premise appeals to you. It's a slice-of-life style absurd comedy that delivers sweet, simple moments in each episode. It even squeezes in a tiny beach episode! The three main characters are pretty average, likeable high school girls/canines, and they are never annoying. I think it's impressive that they managed to squeeze in two different openings in a series that is literally only 26 minutes long content-wise! Both are average; the secondone is the better one.nnThe art is pretty simple and standard fair; appropriate for the tone of a high-school setting. The dog is (obviously) cute.nnOverall, I think if you like cute animals or high school settings, then it's worth half an hour of your time. It's not super memorable, but it is what it is. I think it would actually work well as a longer series - even as 5 minute shorts - as I think there's plenty of comedic potential in the set-up. Alas.
