Synopsis:

The series follows Shion Yasuoka, a reserved middle schooler rapidly gaining recognition in the competitive world of professional shogi. Having overcome personal tragedy and a debilitating inability to speak, she finds solace and purpose within her supportive adoptive family and the shogi community. Her exceptional skill draws the attention of Satoru Hani, a businessman with connections to the highest echelons of Japanese shogi. He proposes a tournament designed to challenge both professional and amateur players, urging Shion to compete.

However, Satoru’s involvement stirs up old wounds. His actions trigger scrutiny from her close friend Ayumi and renewed interest from law enforcement investigating the circumstances surrounding Shion's past loss. As the tournament progresses, fragments of Shion's traumatic history resurface, forcing her to confront painful memories while striving for victory and seeking justice for those she lost. The anime explores themes of resilience, memory, and the complexities of ambition within a traditionally male-dominated field.
