Synopsis:
This gentle narrative follows a young boy grappling with a simple aversion: tomatoes. His reluctance takes an unexpectedly bizarre turn when he discovers a startling change – his head has been inexplicably replaced with one of the offending vegetables. The story unfolds in a subtly surreal atmosphere, exploring themes of identity and self-perception through this peculiar premise.
The narrative centers on the boy's attempts to navigate daily life with his unusual condition, examining how societal expectations and personal preferences intersect. It’s a quiet exploration of acceptance and finding normalcy amidst the absurd, focusing less on action and more on character development and introspective moments. The anime invites contemplation on what defines us and how we reconcile ourselves with the unexpected alterations life throws our way.

Story: There is a boy who did not like tomatoes, lost his football, went under a fence, turned into a tomato, became friends with eggplant and cucumber, was put hanging on a plant for a few months with them, then he went back under the fence again, turned into a boy, and ate cut individuals of his past species. Art: The art direction is outstanding, it reminds me of Dolmio adverts, and old Czech clay stop-motion cartoons. Sound:Not much to say about this department, it's good.nnCharacter:nnThe main character's story arch is very interesting, he goes from avoiding tomatoes to eating them after being one. I believe he has some kind of mental problems, which include cannibalistic traits. nnBut to be fair, being a tomato would drive any sane person insane, though it must be admitted, that this person has a weaker mind than your regular individual, because he is hating his former species so much, that he is consuming them.nnEnjoyment:nnOne of the most enjoyable pieces of entertainment from past 1000 years. You will feel all the feelings during these emotional 5-minute of pure gold.nnTomato ni Natta Otokonoko will be a cult classic spoken about for centuries.nn10/10 essential movie epic for every clay tomato anime fan
