Tonari no Youkai-san

Set in the quiet town of Engamori, a world where supernatural beings and humans coexist, this series explores themes of identity and connection. The story centers on Buchio, a young man who unexpectedly transforms into a nekomata as his life nears its end. This transformation grants him an extended stay with his family, but also raises questions about his purpose and the nature of his newfound powers.

Alongside Buchio's journey, the narrative follows Mutsumi "Muu-chan" Sugimoto and Jirou, a tengu. Muu-chan finds solace in Jirou's presence, who inadvertently fills a void left by her father. Their initial difficulties in expressing their feelings slowly blossom into a protective companionship, highlighting the subtle ways individuals find belonging in a world of hidden supernatural realities. The series presents a thoughtful examination of acceptance and finding one’s place within an unconventional community.
