Synopsis:

The Earth faces an unusual threat from the Oni, an alien race led by a formidable daughter named Lum. To avert invasion, they propose a bizarre contest: a single game of tag against a randomly selected human. Ataru Moroboshi, a high school student known for his misfortune, finds himself chosen. He is granted ten days to successfully tag Lum, unaware of the alien's extraordinary abilities.

Initially driven by a promise from his childhood friend, Ataru's attempts at the game lead to unexpected consequences. His success in tagging Lum triggers a series of misunderstandings that result in her deciding to live with him. The series explores the awkward dynamic between Ataru and Lum as he struggles to navigate his feelings for his intended fiancée while dealing with the clingy alien. It examines themes of fate, relationships, and the unpredictable outcomes of extraordinary circumstances within a lighthearted, slice-of-life framework.
