In the early 1980s, a project aimed at continuing the narrative of *Youkai Ningen Bem* emerged, initially conceived as a 26-episode television series. Topcraft Animation took over production following the original team's dissolution, resulting in two completed episodes before the project was ultimately discontinued. These episodes, preserved on limited LD-Box sets, gained a notable following a decade later, selling out all 2,000 units produced. The series explores themes of societal anxieties and the blurring lines between the human and supernatural realms, set against a backdrop of historical Japan. It presents a contemplative atmosphere, examining the consequences of unchecked technological advancement within a world already grappling with traditional beliefs and folklore.
