Synopsis:
In a world where regional specialties hold unexpected power, the lives of several young women intertwine through their unique culinary abilities. Zunko Tohoku and her companions find joy in the simple pleasure of zunda mochi, a happiness tied to a special skill involving a peculiar weapon. Meanwhile, Chanko Ooedo leads a group dedicated to protecting the tradition of natto production, facing challenges stemming from the delicate balance of bean harvests. A mission to disrupt Zunko’s abilities takes an unforeseen turn with the emergence of an unknown force. The series explores themes of tradition versus innovation, regional identity, and the unexpected connections formed through shared passions, all set against a backdrop of vibrant cultural references. Plot-wise, this anime is suitable mainly for vocaloid fans and fans of the Tohoku sisters (Kiritan, Zunko, and Itako) specifically. They are at their cutest here. It's a wholesome show where you'll get some side knowledge about gastronomy as related to soybeans as well. That being said the plot is very cheesy, especially during the resolution. You will not find anything particularly ingenious or heart wrenching here. But if the sight of Kiritan finally using those cannons like you always thought she could is enough to make your day, then do watch this. Quality of production is good. The singing synths are used in the actualmusic, of which there is quite a lot for such a short show. And the art is great, with the Tohoku sisters looking like they should and the other characters having distinctive designs.
